Closed Account Claiming Charges - Bank Won't Provide me with details of charges

Hi I have a closed account with the Clydesdale and sent them a cheque for £10 to provide me with the details of the charges levied on my account within last 6 years (I no longer have the statements - I closed the account when they charged my approx £300 in charges for going overdrawn by £25). They banked cheque then sent me a replacement and they have responded to the letters I have sent downloaded from this site saying that I have not provided them with the details of the charges (I have asked them 4 times) and they do not believe I have a case and have closed my account. Any suggestions on where I go from here? Thanks

If you have been asking for charges to be refunded without evidence then no, you dont have a valid case at the moment.

As to getting your details. They should have sent them after the first cheque and letter if you clearly stated you were requesting the details as a Subject Access Request under the Data Protection Act and they had to supply them within 40 days. You can complain to the Information Commissioner if they have failed in this task. If it wasnt worded as such I suggest you start again and send another £10 cheque stating your request again clearly. It all depends on how you worded your letters really. Good luck :)
