Advice regarding phone insurance - Claims or refund possible?

I bought a Samsung Galaxy Note from amazon.co.uk in the Summer, bought insurance for it from protectyourbubble.com 3 days later, the day my phone arrived.
Last week my phone was broken, my screen was smashed. I called the insurance company, they told me to send them my proof of purchase. I did so and today got an email saying that I needed to send them proof of purchase including my IMEI number. I don't have this, all I have is the order form which I printed out from amazon and the IMEI is not on there...
Is this just going to have to be an expensive lesson? Is there anything I can do to get something with the IMEI on from the amazon seller? If I can not claim insurance on my phone I'll cancel the policy, no point wasting money on it but as this was not spelled out at the start is there a way I can claim the insurance I've paid back or is this not something the company needs to state in their terms?
Any experience or advice would be appreciated, I was tempted to reply to their email with threats of trading standards but I suspect I don't have a leg to stand on?

You look to have missed this in their policy exclusions:
Any claim where you cannot provide proof of purchase which must include the date the product was purchased / date contract started, be in your name and have the serial / IMEI number of the product
(They put those words in bold)

Thanks. I didn't see that page (couldn't find it even now!:()
So I guess it's my fault for not looking past the "Key Exclusions" page.

It's online here:
http://uk.protectyourbubble.com/gi-mobile-phone-insurance.html
Download full terms and conditions, then scroll down to "Exclusions applicable to all sections.....".
