Fuel consumption of Renault Grand Scenic
Hi, haven't posted ffor a long time but looking for some advice please. Bought a Grand Scenic 1.6 petrol registered 2011 (61) plate about 4 weeks ago, was assured by the salesman that it was a great economical car. After a bit of initial hassle with the dealer, I bought it. However, it is far from economical...... Around town it's lucky to get 20mpg, combined motorway and town approx 28mpg. I don't know too much about cars but this , to me, is not economical. What should I do as definitely not happy with my 'economical' car , and what are my rights?

Look up at Honest John in the real mpg section what other people are reporting - I doubt its much different - next step is probably to have the dealer check its functioning correctly - this problem has been covered often and I don't recall exactly what the subsequent steps are - try a search on 'mpg lies' or similar0

Sounds like you have been sold to. Salesman did his job. I get about 27mpg from a 2.0L car so I would have expected you to get low 30's.0

Your rights are dont drive around town with it, That will be their answer.
My diesel car does 28mpg... But it can also do 60+mpg.
Its not their fault you dont do economical journeys.
Average MPG suggests 38. But that wont apply to your type of journey's.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -

thanks for the replies. Your right, I have been 'sold' to, but not very truthfully. I've had a few different engine size cars including a 2.2 TDi Honda FRV, Citroen C4 picasso 1.6HDi, and this is the worst for fuel. My drivivg style and type of journey haven't changed. Seemed like a good idea going for petrol but this has not been the case.0

You have gone from diesel to petrol so MPG is likely to be more.
You have gone for an underpower car 1300 - 1500kg for a little 1.6 engine.
You might have regretted buying a modern diesel with short journey's.
£££ at the dealers to clean or replace the DPF.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0
