Changing house insurance & making a claim

Currently looking to change content house insurance for a better deal. We've been with the current insurer for quite a few years and never made a claim.

However for the last year one of our TV sets has been playing up (randomly switching off) and I've put off looking into it until now. So my question is 1) would this usually be covered by house insurance (I know I should check my policy but thought I'd ask here first!) and 2) if it is should I claim then switch or vice-versa - though I don't think either way would look too good!

Thanks.

No it would not be covered on house insurance as it would be considered normal mechanical wear and tear. Contents cover is for fire, theft, water damage etc.

If you have an extended warranty or your TV is covered by warranty, you may be able to have it repaired on that.
