Well it has happened and boy is she feeling sorry for herself, she's had so many cuddles and tummy rubs for the big sad face that keeps getting pulled at me:D
Now she is nearly over it, been about ten days, so what do I do about getting her spayed......How long till her next season as well please, I would like to get is done ASAP but we are away for Xmas and she is being babysat by granny Barb at our house! I would want to be there for her:A
What can I expect when she has it done and also any ideas how much it will cost.... PS she is a pooch, not my little Jaz on the pic!
Thanks Peeps!!

Although she may finish bleeding soon, she is just entering her fertile phase. She is likely to be moody for the next 10-20 days and must be kept away from entire dogs the whole time!
Watch out for any signs of discomfort or infection as this can indicate an infection. But I had a Lab that always got very whimpery and clingy when in season!
She should ideally be booked in for spaying in 3 months time - roughly mid-cycle. Cost varies between different vets and is often based on the size of dog as well."Cheap", "Fast", "Right" -- pick two.0 -
Cost of spaying varies between vets anyway but also depends on the size of the dog and the amount of anaesthetic required.
Some vets say wait several months and others will say do it asap. I have had my girls done almost as soon as a season ended because they were manic , untrained (rescue dogs) and strong and I did not want any accidents. No ill effects from spaying straight after season- but in all cases it was not their first season which might make a difference.
Don't forget if you are on benefits you may be able to get a voucher from Blue Cross to help with costs. See my previous postingBeing polite and pleasant doesn't cost anything!

Dogs need to be kept on a lead for walking so they cant dash around for about a week after the op (its a bigger op than for a cat- goes through more muscle).
How fat your dog is also affects the price, not just type of dog she is.DONT BREED OR BUY WHILE HOMELESS ANIMALS DIE. GET YOUR ANIMALS NEUTERED TO SAVE LIVES.0 -
My pup has just started her first season and she's very confused, bless her. Most of the time she cleans herself well, but I'm glad I haven't got carpets

I've been adviced to wait at least 3 months before she's spayed as her blood pressure will be too high until then. It'll be a few hormonal months
Just make sure that no boy dogs get anywhere near yours for the next 2-3 weeks. A b1tch's vagina clings on to a dog's doo-daa until she's ready to release, and nothing will be able to separate them. Out walking today, I met a chap walking a (very cute) little dog, and I asked him straight away whether it was a boy or girl. It was a boy, so I scooped up puppy (mud and all) as I didn't want to risk anything. I did explain to the chap so he didn't think I was being rude
His dog was very interested in my pup, so had to carry her for a while. Luckily she's very diddy

Oh man bleeding is just the start, once she stops bleeding then you are into the serious side of the season where she is likely to run off and you are likely to have every dog around the area knocking on your door.
Trust me my collie !!!!! competed in agility/ flyball/ obedience and trials and was the most well behaved dog going and she still !!!!!!ed off is she had the chance to in the last few days of the season .... Plus dog owners wont appreciate you going through your normal route walks and they have to dredge across a field to collect there dog that wont listen to them when they call it!
Three months and she is ready to visit the vets. Please please please put it in the diary and have it done
