Help....Dorothy Perkins card.

I need some help...
I have phoned customer services to close this card as i havent used it for a long time.
I wanted the chap to close the account and send me a letter to confirm this.
He told me they dont do this, he will leave it open for a few weeks and then close it. He wont send me a letter of confirmation.

Just wondered if anyone knew if this is standard practice??

    Same thing with Next, they confirm on the phone but not in writing. It was only when i checked online and could not login i knew it had been done.
