Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library - help please

Options
I'm trying to take advantage of the 48 hour 1p per print offer at Photobox.co.uk & I'm fast running out of time, but every time I try to add photos I get the message

Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library

Runtime error!

Program C\PROGRAM FILES\INTERNET EXPLORER.EXE

abnormal program termination

I've tried searching the forum but not found anything to help, so could anyone please tell me what to do?

Use Firefox instead and fix the IE problem later.

Also, C\PROGRAM FILES\INTERNET EXPLORER.EXE isn't correct for IE. It should be C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe, which suggests some sort of infection. Therefore follow the spyware/malware removal guide - http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=133269

Thanks Chippy, for the prompt reply & suggestion. I'm downloading Firefox right now, but, being in the dark ages, on Windows 98se & dial-up, it's going to take a bit more time yet, then how long it'll take to upload the photos is anyone's guess! I really must get on with choosing a broadband provider!
Can you suggest how I solve the original problem later? Is it a problem my end or theirs?

    Many thanks, B.

    Help again!

A message has just flashed up on screen, when the Firefox download was about 60% done, saying:

    Extraction Failed

    File is corrupt.

What has happened - what does it mean?

Just refreshed the page & noticed your edit - have looked at the link briefly; not sure it all applies to windows 98, but will see what I can do. Fat chance of any photos now!

OK, it looks like c:\program files\internet explorer.exe is correct for Windows 98SE - maybe someone can confirm this. However, with that new error message, I'd still follow the malware removal guide as much as possible.

Do you have anything like a download manager, P2P sharing program or Google Toolbar installed?

Try uninstalling it - it might be causing the problem.

I uninstalled the Google Toolbar but it wasn't that causing the problem, & now I've tried to get it back but on the Google page it now says it's only available for recent versions of Windows, (not for 98se which is all I've got, & which was good enough when I first installed it!).

Is there any way I can get back what I had? Any help much appreciated.

    http://toolbar.google.com/T4/

"Download previous version" on the right hand side.

Many thanks Charlie - I was on the toolbar page via http://www.google.co.uk which takes you to http://toolbar.google.com/T4/intl/en-GB/ where that option doesn't exist, so thanks for the link.
