Confused by Sat Navs - advice pls

My hubby is looking to buy a sat nav but looking for it to include feature to detect fixed and mobile safety cameras. I've looked at some that seem to offer this (Garmin 2445LMT) but when I look at the additional information, there is an additional annual subscription for the safety camera feature.

Anyone know of any other sat navs that come with this feature as standard or others I compare too?

There are free fixed camera site updates available on line for Tom Tom.

If you google you may find similar for Garmin.

Used to be several websites that updated POI's for free and speed camera database was one of them.

Been a long time, pocketgps or something? Google that.

They were a lot more accurate than the manufacturers ones. Users would report new camera's and police radar spots daily. If you found any incorrect data you simply reported it and the next update had the changes.

Word of caution: I would not relly on a sat nav to pinpoint mobile cameras.

  • I agree I wouldn't rely on a satnav for mobile cameras, but as the others have mentioned you can find many sites that will offer free downloads for this. So research this before buying your satnav.

Don't waste your money on the top of the line satnavs either. They become out of date after a year and most brands charge £50 to update them.
