Hi i have a question to ask all of you about a few minutes ago southern electric came to read my meters, but the problem is im not with southern electric no more im with N power.
Southern electric said they read for npower and british gas and all the other suppliers is that true?He said many suppliers deal with estimated readings and he reads for them.
But ive been with british gas before and they read there own meters, anyway he got really funny with me and i did nt let him in.
He said he will write on the letter refused to let me in.
The funny thing is npower sent me two letters yesterday saying how much i will be paying and a few days ago i gave npower my meter readings.
Has this happened to anyone else????????

Yes, it is possible for Southern Electric to read the meters on behalf of other suppliers.
Although you pay for your electricity supply with N-Power, the actual pipes and meters (and distribution) of the electric is down to SE. (If you were to have an electric emergency, it would be SE that call out not N-Power)
Also, as a rule, they try to get a true meter reading at least once a year so even if customer readings had been supplied, they may still callout for an offical reading.
I don't think there is anything untoward ..:happylove Tori Bellatrix :happylove

It could be a meter reader, or it could be a dodgy sales rep. You did the right thing not letting him in, and if you speak tio nPower you'll know next time whether to let him in or not.
Most (if not all) suppliers have a password scheme which they can get a meter reader to quote when they visit, if you set one up you will always know whether they are genuine or not.0 -
also bgas dont read any meters at all anymore as far as i am aware. Definitely correct meter reading is sub contracted in your area the same people will read the gas and elec meters does not matter who supplies0

We've had gas and electric from various suppliers since deregulation and for most of this, it has always been the same meter reading company that has come out to read both gas and electric meters (at the same time).
There are several meter reading companies spun off from the deregulation.
Metering Services is one owned by EON which owns Central Networks (The electricity distribution network for the West Midlands), Accuread another. It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!(OK my English isn't great, the sciences, maths & IT are my strong points!)0
