I have been told by Santander that they cannot find the Abbey National mortgage reference I gave them and that the PPI I had is likely to be through a broker and , although I cannot remember, I have to find the original broker to make a complaint. This is despite my having the original letter from Abbey National detailing the lump sum I had to pay them for the PPI and who they were taking the policy out with. This was a policy to protect themselves and I derived no benefit from it apart from them then giving me a mortgage. I am sure a lot of people must be in a similar situation were they can't remember events 20 years ago. Hopefully someone can help. Thanks.

Abbey never did single premium MPPI. So, it cannot have been through them. It has to have been a broker if it is PPI.
However, I suspect you are not talking about MPPI but are referring to MIG (mortgage indemnity guarantee). This was a policy to protect themselves and I derived no benefit from it apart from them then giving me a mortgage.
Yes, that would be MIG.I am sure a lot of people must be in a similar situation were they can't remember events 20 years ago.
Yes. However, they wouldnt normally put in a complaint about a product they didnt have to a firm that never sold it. Your complaint letter must have been interesting fiction.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only.
