Firewall help

Hi, Can anyone help, in really simple terms as to how to add a program to my Firewall list of permitted programs. I've looked on the Firewall list on my computer and it's not there and I can't work out how to add it. I use Windows xp and want to add apc.exe to my list. It's from Albelli photo books website. I hope that's enough info. Thanks for any help.

These are the general steps to add a program to the Windows XP SP3 Firewall Exceptions list. You should only do this for known, "safe" applications.

Click Start , and then click Control Panel .
Double-click Windows Firewall (or click Security Center and then Windows Firewall ).
In the Windows Firewall control panel, click the Exceptions tab.
Click Add Program . NOTE: You will see a list of installed programs.
Select the program and click OK to add the program (see below if the program is not listed).
Click OK to close the Windows Firewall control panel.
Restart the computer to enable these choices. NOTE : If you didn't see the name of a program you were attempting to add above, click the Browse button. Then click My Computer . Double Click on Local Disk (C:) . Programs are usually stored in the Program Files folder on your computer, so Double Click on Program Files . You will now need to locate and open the application's folder. Then select the EXE file will open the application.

Thanks for your reply. I don't know if I'm being really dim but I can't find EXE in the application's folder. Thanks for your help though.

You need to look for apc.exe

Oh then right click on the icon for the program and select properties , that should show you where the file is. Then look there in the Firewall Add Programs window

Just tried that and there's no apc.exe there.:(

At the risk of sounding even more stupid, would this be something that I would have downloaded or something that would automatically have been on my computer? Thanks.

which firewall are you using

if you have a router, a software firewall isn't really essential, the windows one should suffice and will eliminate these type of problems.

[STRIKE]Been doing a quick look on t'internet and it looks like they suggest turning off your firewall , which seems a bit severe IMHO, it looks like the program is flash based so it will probably be in your Temporary Internet Files Folder[/STRIKE]. See below if you have installed it
