Thanks to Cameron's declared intent to charge 45p/unit of alcohol, I have been spending all I can afford to fill my garage with spirits, wine & cider that are on offer!
I am a 69 year old disabled divorced OAP on low income whose only pleasure is a tipple. I do not go out and fight in the street, I drink at home, the worst effect is a good nights sleep. Why should I pay more when all is needed is for the police to enforce the existing laws?
When I worked in France, their laws on public drunkeness were draconian and I do not recollect seeing any drunks on the streets.

I do agree...why punnish everyone. A bottle of wine at 8.6units lowest price will be £3.87 at 45p per unit...which is still not bad though.

A curse on Tesco!

Twice in the past year this vile company has hiked the price of its own brand vodka by around 60p a bottle. Fair enough, it's a business and it can charge what it likes, but the other supermarkets soon follow and without the intervention of nanny Cameron, that's around £1.20 extra per bottle in the space of a year, for no discernible reason.

Amarula Marula Fruit Cream Liqueur (70cl) - £10.47 at ASDA. £10.50 at Tesco if you don't have an ASDA nearby. This is normally about £12.
