MBNA Credit Cards

When our MBNA Visa came up for renewal a year or so ago, we were sent a new Visa card PLUS an American Express card which we have never had before and was not requested. We were in two minds whether to keep it (we had the choice of refusing it) but decided we would as the cashback rate is higher than that of the VISA. However, since then we have found that the AMEX is not accepted in so many places that frankly I can no longer be bothered to ask if retailers will accept it and just use my VISA most of the time unless I already know that a retailer will accept the AMEX.

We were led to believe that we had been sent the AMEX in addition to our VISA as we have always paid off the balance in full every month. At the time it seemed a good idea. However nowhere in the bumpf that came with the card did it mention that when you reach £15,000 spend in a year ALL of the cashback ceases until the next year, by that I mean for both cards so we are not getting any cashback now until January 2013. Our monthly statement is combined for the two cards and gives a total amount of cashback for both cards. The latest statement shows we have £118 cashback for our £15,000 spend.

I dont know if any other companies set this cap on cashback but thought I would post to make others aware of this happening.
