Buyer problem

Hi all,
Could do with some advice.
I am selling a load of furniture on ebay for my parents. All the pieces are on buy it now.
Somebody purchased an item on Monday. They then messaged me asking for my address, how I wanted to pay, oh and to let me know they couldn't pick the furniture up for almost two weeks.
I was a bit miffed they hadn't asked if this would be okay first, but maybe that's just because I would have sent a message beforehand. The reason they are selling the furniture is to make room for the ridiculous amount of new furniture they have just bought. They need the old stuff gone asap, and definitely have no room to store furniture for this amount of time.
I asked if there was any way the buyer could collect sooner, and even offered delivery if it was transport that was an issue, but the buyer said they are away and no can do.
They've told me I am welcome to relist, so I have tried to cancel the transaction. I've heard nothing from them, and I think they're going to ignore this to be awkward.
In the meantime, the furniture is still listed elsewhere and somebody has asked to come and buy it today.
What can I do? Should I wait til the buyer responds to the case? I don't want to miss out on a sale because my parents need rid of the furniture as soon as possible.
Help would be much appreciated.

Firstly, it is never a good idea to list the same items in 2 places- you will end up with all sorts of issues. As it stands now and assuming you sent a mutual cancellation you need the buyer to agree to the cancellation or wait 7 days for it to time out and allow you to close it and recover your fees.
If buyer does not agree to cancel, and it sounds like there is a chance they won't , you have no where else to go with this and remain responsible for the fees and any feedback received.
2 weeks is not unreasonable for collection especially selling remotely like this, if you hadn't gone for the mutual your only other choice would have been a full NPB and you couldn't start that until day 4 anyway. However, for collection only items where I assume you were keeping your fingers crossed for cash the NPB route becomes difficult as the buyer needs to pay by paypal to cancel it.
It is only Wednesday now so I would certainly give your buyer a much better time frame to see if they do still want this- or even wait for them to agree to the mutual before you do anything else.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
