Hi
I'm not that knowlegable about these things, so I could do with some help please?
We live in a rural area. My son is moving out into a flat (old house 2 flats-upstairs & downstairs)
I have put the postcode into Martin's Broadband price checker, obviously because of the area (we are not in THE 70% of the country) the cheap providers don't apply, Plusnet is coming up cheapest at £13.95 a month-which is fine by my son.
But he has been told by mates-who live at home, and are going with their parents providers that he should go with BT??? Also he has been told Plusnet are r--bish?
I find all this a bit confusing as we have good package.
There is a phone connection in the flat, so I presume a line is coming in there?
He doesn't want an actual phone (mobile package is fine). So he just wants the broadband for use with lap top for college work.
He will not be doing a great deal of downloading-no films etc, and doesn't play games.
Does he have to pay line rental & the £13.95 to Plusnet, as he needs the line rental to get the broadband (sorry for being thick)
Any pointers would be gratefully appreciated.
Thank you:beer:

Plusnet is owned by BT, but still run independently. It runs on the BT network but is generally cheaper and with better service.
Yes, to get any ADSL broadband you must have an active line and pay line rental. So the line will need reconnecting if not active.
If you are refering to Plusnet Value, be aware that this package has a 10GB cap.No free lunch, and no free laptop
