Flooded flat - Insurance claim?

I own an upstairs flat. Apparently my plumbing caused a leak/small flood in the downstairs unoccupied flat. The first I knew was a call from the owners. I did see a wet carpet and they had broken the back of a cupboard looking for the leak. Their plumber looked at my plumbing and said it was my stop !!!! and the pipe behind which he repaired.
I heard nothing more about it and presumed they would have claimed any costs against their insurance.
I have now received a letter demanding payment for many things including hiring a de-humidifier (which I could have provided if consulted), gas, electric and 'sundries' etc etc
Surely this is an insurance claim and I am not personally responsible. I have already paid out over £200 to the plumber and can't be certain it was just my plumbing that caused the problem. Can anyone please advise as I'm really stressed out about this bill. I even went to Citizens Advice today and all they said was 'easiest option is to pay it' which I really can't afford to do.

Pass the correspondence unaswered on to your Insurers after reporting it to them.

For them to have a claim against you they would need to prove negligence
