The only folk reading it are likely to be those buying from you, rather than folk accepting bids from them. ;)

Of course... You can have lotsa fun. ;)

Just had a bounced cheque, item sold for £7, my bank charged me £6 to bounce the cheque, these things happen, but buyer emailed to say that he had been charged £70 as bank had tried to present cheque twice at £35 a time. I dont know wheter to feel sad at my loss or glad that his bank screwed him

It might be worth querying the £6 charge as UK banks rarely charge the payee when a cheque bounces. The only time they routinely charge is when the bouncing cheque is paid into a business account.

I hate cheques, I've had several bounce on me and several recalled after being cleared for funds and I have never been charged by my bank. I do know though that the person who wrote the cheque out can get horrendous charges, so the £70 seems about right.

I have just had to cancel a high bidder on an item who had three non payments against them and so 95% The feedback was two neutral and one negative, amongst several positives. He'd paid the listing fee for two he pulled out of after winning, so could have been much worse!! I contacted him for an explaination/assurance and had made no reply, so I cancelled his bids. Before that I contacted previous high bidder who was happy to become high bidder again. Luckily, 24 people watching the item so hopefully will get lots of last minute bids.

I'd change your bank or open a new one just for ebay cheque payments. I use Smile or HSBC and have had cheques paid in that have bounced on both (I am unlucky with my buyers that pay by cheque) and neither have ever charged me a fee.

Oh, I've also used Co Op in the past as well and they didn't charge either but then they are the same company as Smile.

I think if any of my banks started to charge me for bounced cheques then that would be the thing that persuaded me to go to paypal only auctions in future. I couldn't afford to pay every time some buyer gave me a cheque which bounced, it would just not be cost effective for me.
