Tumble dryer venting hose too big - Help please

I have just bought a new Hoover tumble dryer to replace an old Hotpoint dryer which was vented out through the wall. Space is really tight as its in a utility room and when we got the new one in place, the vent hose is very wide, and is too big to fit the current vent duct. Also because its so big the tumble dryer can't be pushed into the corner as it was before as I have to put the hose up the side and over the top so that I can push it back as near to the wall as possible.

Any suggestions please, is it possible to replace the big hose with one smaller so that firstly it will fit the venting duct and secondly it doesn't need so much space.

Thanks:confused:

Obviously a bigger hose has been designed to allow more air to flow, but unless the original pipe is much smaller then it should not reduce efficiency by too much.

Condenser drier is a better option.
