Was wondering whether anybody has one of these so I can see whether mine is faulty or whether it's something that happens with all of these.

I bought a [SIZE=-1]'Tomy Discovery Forget Me Not Photo Album' from Amazon. It came with batteries but when I put them in the recording function didn't work at all. I put in some old batteries I had laying around and the recording function works but there seems to be some sort of 'interference' noise on playback, almost like a train noise with a cat purring in the background!
It doesn't make the sound when it plays the pre-recorded sounds eg the twinkly noise when you first open the photo album.
I think I have managed to upload the audio from my phone to TinyPic, obviously it's louder to the 'real ear' so to speak!
Click for TinyPic audio
I'm pushed for time as it's being sent to Australia for Xmas so don't want to return if if it's normal! Thanks for any input
Edit: I read quite a few reviews before I bought it but none mentioned the noise.

I don't have one but the one I've seen at work didn't have interference in the playback. Does it make the noise when you actually record something? It's hard to tell from your audio clip but it might be trying to pick up something to record and so is being overly sensitive?0

Thanks - yep, the noise is in the background when I record voice too. Eg 'Hi, Love you lots' with the noise still in the background over the voice. I just pressed record and didn't talk to get the clip with the interference noise only to post on here.0 -
Ah ok, in that case yes I'd say it was faulty. But maybe someone else can back me up on that one (as I said - I don't have one, have only seen one briefly at work).0

Thanks MrsDrink, I've arranged for a return with Amazon and luckily they send the replacement out before the faulty one is received so should be OK in time for Xmas down under!0
