Train Tickets on Collection with Debit Card

Hi,
First time poster so be gentle with me!
I have recently booked some train tickets with London Midland and have since had my wallet stolen with my debit card inside. I phoned London Midland and thought this would be an easy problem to solve but they said if I can't produce my debit card I booked with I won't be able to collect the tickets.
This seems grossly unfair as I've booked and paid for the tickets and lost my card through no fault of my own, also the tickets I've booked have now practically doubled in price if I want to re-book.
Does anyone know what my rights are?? Has this happened to anyone else??

They have a procedure if your card has expired between booking and collection so I would try again and seek to speak to someone with at least a portion of brain. If they give you the same line then ask about the point I've made.0

I don't know the answer but it cannot be a new problem. Obviously it would make sense that you can't use a machine, but surely there has to be another way around it. Is there a booking reference?0 -
Are you collecting tickets at a machine? I seem to remember a similar thread on here recently that you can use any card for ID purposes. Someone had even used their nectar card.Back on the trains again!0

Yes, collecting from a self service machine. I had thought you needed the card you used to book but will try with another card if this is true.0 -

No - it has to be the card that you booked with.
(If the booking was made with vouchers, then you can provide any card. Similarly, when I travel with work, and work make the booking, I can pick up the tickets using any card. But otherwise it has to be the payment card).
But there must be a way around it in these circumstances - phone LM again.0 -

No that's not the case in my experience. Wife's Company book all rail tickets for staff on Company credit card and staff use their own credit/debit card at machine to collect tickets.0 -
According to the London Midland's website you need to contact them to re-arrange ticket collection. As a new user I cannot post links, however, it's under their FAQ section. Google: "london midland using another debit card to collect tickets" and it's the first result.
I know using other Train Operating Companies that any card will do; however, don't have experience with London Midland. Maybe worth contacting them again and citing their FAQ section?0 -
But LM's FAQs seem to say something different...Question: I no longer have the credit/debit used to purchase my ticket as it has been lost or stolen. How do I collect my tickets?
Answer:In the event that you lose the credit/debit card used to purchase your tickets, or it is stolen, we will be unable to issue you with your tickets at the station. You should contact Web Support by telephone on 0121 634 2040 or by email via Contact Us.0 -
So they may be able to print them out there and send them to you if you contact them.just passing through.... Nothing to see....0

Did you even read my post?
I'll repeat it here:
You have to use the card used for payment, unless:
- The booking was made using vouchers; or
- The booking was made by an employer (or similar) on your behalf.
In these two cases, any credit or debit card may be used as identification.0
