Interesting new idea from Argos

Was reserving some Christmas presents online with Argos, only to find that they're currently offering same-day delivery for £5 via Argos Shutl. As the cost for me to get to Argos & back is roughly this, I may use this service in future (lots more prezzies to get yet)
Has anyone actually used this Shutl service? What did you think?

They have been offering this for at least 8 months now as that was when I last used it. Was absolutely ideal for me as by the time I went there during my lunch hour it would have been wasted with travel to Old Street and back to the city, so elected for this and you can watch your item coming from the store all the way to the office, there was a load of us watching it, silly I know but funny as fook. Showed him arriving at work on the GPS map and lo and behold reception called.
Would deffo use again
I remember leaving a review at the time and saw nothing but good reviews.0 -
I just remembered they do this for other stores as well cannot remember though.
Here are the reviews, as always some expect a bit more than what is expected, Like this little gem:Reviewed 12:32 on 20 November 2012 4 Stars
Fast and effecient service, one downfall is that the item waqs not wrapped or in a bag, it was a christmas present so the person saw what they were getting.....

Thanks all. It's only just started to be offered in my area, and I must say, it seems like a great idea. And as it's in the first couple if weeks, the promo price seems really good. I might just have to give it a go!
I like the sound of the GPS thing too, means I could distract the kids at the right time

I just used this service. Never again. Ever. Blooming useless!
GPS tracking didn't work, package was over an hour late, driver blamed our road for not having an individual sign (imagine a letter T, the top half has road signs, we're three houses that branch off, it's very clearly the same road, thus not being individually signed)
Also, we kept telling him exactly where to go (turn left into the road, go four houses along and turn left again) but it still took him 40 MINUTES!!! To find my house. I couldn't walk up the road to flag him down as I've got two kids running about, but every time he passed I'd say "there, there, stop, go back 1 metre and turn left" but no.
Definitely wouldn't use again in case I had the same issues! Would've been quicker and cheaper to go and pick it up in the end!0 -
I would hazard a guess that you are not in London like myself. They use courier riders and works well.0

No, I'm in Birmingham. They used a guy in a small car. I live about 3 miles away from the store, and it took the driver 90 minutes from leaving to delivering.
The GPS tracking wasn't working either, so when I was being told "I'm outside your house. I rang the bell, you weren't in" I couldn't even see where he was to try and figure it out, and he had no clue either!
Whilst I appreciate I live in a sneakily placed little cul-de-sac, with the instructions I'd given (after four houses, there's a left turn, use it) there really wasn't any excuse
Oh well. Kind of gutted I paid £15, had to stay in for an extra hour, and therefore ended up not going out as I planned to
