bios password?Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0

Sorry i dont mean to make you sound PC illeterate but my first thought would be to:
Turn the guest account off0 -
I agree with the BIOS password - turning the guest account on is pretty easy with even basic knowlegde - i.e. boot up in safe-mode and log in as administrator - will have a blank password by default0

Well if you password protect your accounts including the admin account, then there is no way in changing it.
Personally i think its more hassle turning on your PC then entering BIOS, then entering password. Not to mention the fact you could miss the BIOS screen and lose out on even more time. It is an annoyance.
If all the accounts are pass protected, you'll save bags of time over bios passowrd protection.0 -
boot off a password recovery cd - takes less than 1 minute to do and vey easy to get your hands on - free legal download on the internet0

Yea great until you lose or scratch your CD.
Just do what i said earlier.0 -
ok where do i begin - he seems to be able to re-activate the guest account when i as the administrator have turned it off, in safe mode and then gets in that way, he doesnt change any passwords. How do i get into bios and how will this affect my pc? I thought about locking the pc once i come off it, ive seen this come on automatically once the screen has been inactive for a little while but have no idea how to turn it on myself at will and also no idea if this will prevent access
thanks for all the replies0 -
he probably logs in using the Admin account on safe mode as default that does not have a password so password it by logging on to it. Make sure to change all you passwords to log on as he might just no your password.0

Ok simple and last post here...
1. Get to your login screen
2. If you are an "administrator" log in.
3. If you are not an "administrator" hit ctrl+alt+del 3 times
4. Login now as an administrator by using "administrator" as your username.
5. Go in and right click "My Computer"
6. Now click "manage"
7. In the left hand pane, expand "Local users and groups"
8. In the right hand pane double-click "Users" folder
9. In here you will see a list of the user accounts assoiciated with machine. You can delete the guest account here (right click and delete). Do the same for any other unfamiliar accounts but leave ASPNET and Administrator.
10. To change the "Administrator" account password, right click
"administrator"
11. Click on "SET PASSWORD"
12. Follow as normal and just restart.
Now based of the info you have said. You say you disable guest and your son enables. I think he knows your logon password and enables from there or he knows how to log in as an administrator and enable from there.
Follow the above and he will be stuffed and you will be sorted.
Peace out and your welcome.0
