i just spoke to a company and they said i do not need to tell my ex if i go BR and that i do not need to mention that my mum is paying mortgage - this seems dishonest?! you are at odds here "i dont know i just dont feel comfortable if im not being completely upfront and honest...." IMHO you cannot move on with your new partner with your ex always in the financial background with the joint mortgage, you cannot just have hime "taken off it" as PG says he can come knocking ten years down the line and want half the equity, BR is the time to lay your cards, it is very cathartic to do this, the sort of standing up and saying "I am Tigger and I am a Bankrupt"
i will phone cccs tomorrow and go through it all again with them - i felt a bit jittery because
1. i spoke to them recently when the water board applied for a ccj - they said if i filled out the paperwork it would all be fine and i wouldnt get one - or thats what i assumed/was led to believe. so i filled out with my repayment offer and i still got a ccj even though they accepted. please use CCCS or CAB, the companies that charge only have one thing in mind and that is charging you.
2. the budget you go through with them - i dont think the figures are realistic - i cant change my car insurance, i cant do my grocery/household shopping for the amount they recommend. i dont spend money on haircuts or holidays, or have emergency funds, but i do have pets which sometimes incur vet bills. i wouldnt say i spend anything exceptional or out of the ordinary and if im doing this i want to be honest. i feel like a naughty school girl with a guilty conscience as it is and if my figures are fictional i will feel even more so. yes i have pets and yes i allocated 20 a week towards entertainment to try and cover the odd take away or whatever. i allocated money towards clothing when in fact we never buy any - but im pregnant so maybe i will need to. your figures are about right, the groceries can be higher, the OR allows about £250 per adult, on the BR forms there is a "other expenses" this is where pets go, remember the SOA is a starting point for discussion with the OR, if you can justify your figures there is not a problem, they will kill your entertainment budget though, so remember to put down haircuts, £20 for a UK holiday etc, if your decide to have a pizza instead of a holiday thats up to you!
i dont know i just dont feel comfortable if im not being completely upfront and honest....
TBH i dont think BR will help with our day to day finances or lack thereof, but at least it means the debts will be wiped and this situation doesnt just yawn on and on into the future - thats why im thinking about it.
Comments above, good luck, jsut think how long will it take to get straight trying to pay the balances as they stand now.every time I manage to get one more breath into this body, I will sing a song of thanks to you my brothers, my sisters, my friends, may your sleep be peaceful, and angels sing sweetly in your ears.0 -
Thanks everyone - I will do a new soa when I get 5 mins.
I think I've managed to satisfactorily answer most of my original questions through research and your kind help. What's bothering me most is my partners income. I sat down with six months bank statements and looked at what we were spending. Biggest expenditure is food ( inc pets) then bills (not credit cards etc but money owed to accountants, ccj etc) then cash withdrawals which is usually for fuel and luxuries such as clothes, meals out came in at 100 a month average ( for us both). It was easier to look at my finances like this than using the Cccs budget. Most months there was a surplus of about 100 which I would then just throw at another bill/bills. My partner is just about to cut down what he gives me because he is having his boys for the first time this Christmas and wants to use the cash for that. If he cuts back on what he gives me to fall in ine with Cccs budget wouldnt this look dodgy? It would st ill be pretty much 100% of household expenditure because I'm not earning.
Why do I feel like I've done something wrong?? I honestly feel guilty like I'm going to be caught out on a lie, yet I'm not lying? Is this common?
Also how many months or years bank statements does the or require?
Thanks again x0 -
I'm a bit confused, you say your partner is going to need to give you less money, what money does he give you and for what apart from for the household expenses/bills? And if everything he gives you is for household bills and he gives you less how are you going to manage? As I see it you have no income?
My OR asked me for 2 years statements of everything. The package I sent them weighed a ton!"Our prime purpose in this life is to help others. And if you can't help them, at least don't hurt them." Dalai Lama0 -

With six credit cards , three bank accounts I never sent in any statements at all. The OR can get themselves if required.0 -
I was asked for 12 months which I took with me to the interview as I had requested a face to face.0
