Vodafone smart tab II

Options
I'm looking into getting a tablet - I don't want an ipad (well I do but am not paying their prices) I was looking at nexus 7 but then saw the new Vodafone smart tab II - the main points are it has an sd slot and is on pay as you go - I wouldn't use 3g very often so this would be ideal for those long car journeys that we make occasionally.
I know it's new but does anyone have an opinion on the smart tab?

Only has single core 1ghz cpu, 1024 x 600 screen (which for 7 inch is ok).

The data allowance is £5 for 250mb or 30 days so not great.

Do you have a smart phone that can be tethered. If so, the samsung galaxy tab ii has same screen but is dual core, but no 3g and at the moment is £150 but with £30 cashback from carphone warehouse
Mansion TV. Avoid at all cost's :j

I don't have a smart phone or data allowance on my mobile contract - it would only be very occasionally that i'd use the 3g so it's not a necessity.

There are so many different opinions on Tablets so it's hard to choose.
