the cd drive on my laptop has gone not sure where but not displying in mycomputer any idears ??

if it is still missing after a reboot, try a system restore.

what have you installed since it last worked?

does it open& shut properly ? if so then see if it displayed in the bios set up. Press f2 or del on boot up. The bios should come up and show all the drives.

Check device manager to see if its listed there - had a few problems with them having yellow exclamation marks nect to them

I had the same problem a few weeks ago. If yours is the same problem I fixed it by downloading a fix from https://www.dougknox.com/xp/scripts_desc/xp_cd_dvd_fix.htm .
The problem was if you have automatic updates turned on, one of these updates screwed your pc in this way. Hope this helps.
