Ok, ok, I know the ereader threads have been done to death, but just wondered about the above (Sony prs-505). I know its an old model and that there are much better ones on the market now, but ebay have them for £59 delivered and with good feedback. I am on a budget and will probably upgrade it at some stage if I like the ereader format, but at the moment I just want a cheapy to try it out.
I like the idea that it has a more robust metal design than some ereaders and also comes with a leather cover which I would probably spend a tenner on on top of the price of any other.
The lack of wifi doesn't worry me as I don't travel much and can just use my laptop to download books. I understand that in theory, you can only use books from the sony online store which has bad reviews. However, in practice I understand you can download a program called calibre(?) which will convert any ebook to the right format for the sony ereader.
Anyone have any comments? I didn't really want to spend more than about £50, so please don't advise me to save a bit more and buy the latest all singing and dancing model, just wanted peoples views on this model and the price. Thanks

Mine's (well we have 2) 3 years old very good, I use Calibre which is great, and you can use any books that are delivered via Amazon Digital editions, not just Sony/Waterstones and the local Library too , as well as DRM free one's (convert them using calibre) The battery still good for 2-3 weeks , and it is possible to self install a new one(http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iLHgLz9LYMA). Sounds like a good deal (ours were £160 EACH)4.8kWp 12x400W Longhi 9.6 kWh battery Giv-hy 5.0 Inverter, WSW facing Essex . Morgans seem to have been commissioned to clear all of Sony's old stocks of e-readers. http://www.morgancomputers.co.uk/c/585/eReaders/
Alas your 505 seems not to be on the list of what they're shifting (but loads more models are)
