No decision from Barclaycard (Platinum)

Hi all,
Sorry Im a newbie so not even sure if im posting in the correct place.

So I applied for a barclaycard platinum for a balance transfer and was accepted right away online and given a credit limit.

My husband did the same a few days later and also has good credit according to his history but we are still waiting for them to get back to him. Its been over a week and after he applied online they said they would be in touch within 5 days.
We have not received anything, no call letter or email.
We called them up today and they said they are still making a decision and we should know by next week.
He got a virgin credit card 6 months ago for a purchase and got the card and limit immediately its the only other one he has.

Im starting to think its a bad sign they are taking so long to decide- so what im asking is has anyone else waited a few weeks after applying and still been approved? Thanks!

  • Most likely there doing a full check before deciding
  • I thought I would just update ths thread so it's helpful for someone else. We heard a reply from Barclays over 10 days after the internet application saying " your new barclaycard is waiting for you, but we have approved you for a different product, I'm sorry this is not the one you asked for. Please sign and return to receive your new card"
They offered a card at 18.9% we only wanted the 0% deal so we won't be taking it. Not sure why I was able to get it but my husband wasn't. So I guess it goes to show a 'refer' isn't always a 'no' we are going to wait 6 months nd apply for another 0% card.

Thats the normal APR for purchases. I would check with them as it is possible they will give you a new customer promo offer for a balance transfer.
