Car Hire - Full clean licence...3 points :(

HiHave a car booked from Budget (Poitiers, France) for our summer holidays but recently acquired 3 points having been caught by a speed camera. My own stupid fault, lapse in concentration moving to 30 zone.

The small print asks for a full, clean licence. Does anyone know if the 3 points will be a problem. Anybody have experience of this, particularly from Budget?

Thanks very much.

Cant speak for budget, but never had any problems with Hertz or Sixt or Avis with 3 points. Think most places allow 3 or even 6 points.

Most places dont ask to see the paper bit anyway. I've got 6 points and never had any issues.

Why don't you ring them up and ask?
That will give a much more reliable answer than we can (although we try our best) :)
    Can I help?

I've never known a few points to be a problem.

I don't know why the hire companies don't state their policy more clearly, though. It's not easy to find out what's acceptable and what isn't.

Phoned Budget today. Generally 3 points is OK for the British system, they worry about 6 points. He wasn't sure about the French system, couldn't see a problem. Advised me to ring the French office.
  • I've worked for Budget for 10 years and wouldn't have a problem with 3 points if you're over 25 years old.

With regards France, I wouldn't worry about as I very much doubt they're even look at the paper part (if you have the latest photo version).

I've seen licences from all over the world and I can't say I've ever had a problem.

Thanks Robocop, confirms what the Budget customer services said... although he seemed a little unsure. Anyway on with the holiday plans... have a good weekend all!
