it's not too noisey (46db compared to 50db quoted for lots of others), just
Is this a single unit rather than split?
If so, what model/brand do you have?
46dB definately seems at the low end for air con noise? What goes around - comes around

Quick FYI - I purchased the PKY12 air conditioner from Robert Dyas. They have this for 225 which seems cheap for this model - elsewhere it's 300-400, although I think TLC are going to stock it for around the same price.
From the EEC rating chart it has 3.5kW cooling, B rated and 50dB noise. Whilst it's noisy most of the sound is the air, and it's quieter than others I've heard.
I'm happy so far, just
a) waiting for the warm weather
b) considering how to better vent the air than through a window
c) Now thinking about whether I need another one, or -- more likely -- considering additional loft insulation/reflective window coverings/thicker curtains etc.
I'll likely post a review to my blog sometime, but if anyone has any questions before then feel free to ask. What goes around - comes around

Yes your correct. But look at it like this. If you used an electric heater you would get the same out of it. You would get 2.9kw of heat from it. With an a/c unit it will burn 2.9kw of electric but you will actually get 4kw of cooling from it thereabouts. The same goes for this in heating, its very efficient at heating. If you found my post helpful, please remember to press the THANKS button! --->0 -
We bought 2 of COMET's own air con units last years and ran them throughout the Summer with no problems. From memory they were around
£200 each. They were brilliant and we survived the hot Summer well.0
