Easy enough to find. Click N Cool
The Argos one is much cheaper though for the same BTU0 -
The very first pic is the ones I have.... You have a tumble dryer like hose pipe that you can either make a hole in your wall or put the pipe out of the window.... We made a pice of wood with a hole shape in it... attached the pipe to it and we place this against our smallest open window.0

Bear in mind they can be very noisy and use loads of electric.0

You do get used to the *hum* of it and it is sooooooooooo worth it when those days are hot.0

sorry to seem dumb, but why do you need the hose?
does water actually come out?
could the hose be really long to go out of the room its cooling then out of the window of another room?
thanks all

The big hose is for getting rid of the hot air from the room thats being cooled.its usually 4 to 5 inches in diameter. You have to ensure that the hose is well out of the window and that the windows are sealed up as much as possible. Otherwise you would be making your room warmer!!Most portable air cons come with a foam pad with a hole in it. All you need to do is to put the hose out through the window. Try to close the window as far as you can and then seal the gaps with the foam.
The big hose shouldnt be too long. The problem is that the hose gets heated up due to the warm air passing through it(and defeat the purpose of an AC)
This is similar to the fact that you cant cool a room by leaving the fridge door open !The manufacturer therefore does not recommend attaching additional extensions.
In addition to the big hose you will need to empty the water collecting tank every couple of weeks depending on usage. This water which builds up in an air con is not something that you put in but is what the AC collects (by de-humidifying) from the air in your room. You can connect a tiny hose to this as well and leave it on constant drainage so that you dont have to bother about emptying the water collecting tank periodically0 -
We found the foam wasn't really working for us as our windows open outwards... it would have been perfect for sash windows (windows that slide up to open) So we got a piece of wood and made a hole for the pipe to go through and pushed this against the window (cut to fit of course) that way we could keep the window open but the warm air outside out. Our hose didn't get hot at all and the water collected very very slowly in the pot. The hose is not long enough to put in one room and to have the machine in another room... think tumble dryer length. Ours just about reaches our top window with the machine on the floor.... if it doesn't fit put it onto a sturdy table or dressing table on top of a thick towel or something to protect the table underneath. You also have to buy the right size machine for the room you will be using it in.0

we got a portable unit, as on this site just before summer last year. it's in our bedroom (which is the hottest room in the house!) with the double hoses going thru an external wall. it doesn't need emptying of water either, think this goes thru one of the hoses instead.
it's not too noisey (46db compared to 50db quoted for lots of others), just put it on a higher setting before bed then on to it's lowest thru the night. it's the 1st year we've actually managed sleep during a hot spell.
got it off ebay but the seller doesn't seem to be selling anymore or is using a different id. which is a shame, as we were thinking about getting another for downstairs...
edit: i just rang the no. on the Sunrise site i linked to initially, very helpful owner tells me Sunrise no longer exist (he's told website provider to close the old site a few times but still not done) & his new co. is as per the updated link. they have these units in stock & sell direct to the public0 -

A cheaper alternative is to move to the North of Scotland....sure you have to live with a few 'heed the bal' Sweaties, but no need for an air conditioner which means you save a wad on electricity.0
