Amateur Gardening magazine - 51 issues a year. Got all the Radio 4 gardening brains in there. It will knock you back £75 for a years sub.
Might work out cheaper to buy a glossy book with all the same tips in it.

Garden News - it is a newspaper not a mag but has a steady supply of seedsYou never know how far-reaching something good, that you may do or say today, may affect the lives of others tomorrow0

which are the best garden magazines in terms of freebies , cost and practical advice. I want to buy a subscription for someone with a veg and flower garden but doesn't need lots of pretty pictures of other peoples gardens.- any ideas please.
In terms of cost you can get the Gardeners World magazine and Grow It via Tesco deals if you collect the club card vouchers.
Gardening Mag is £14.50 worth of vouchers for a 12 month sub.

I get amateur gardening magazine now after having had gw mag for years. Enjoy AG much more, and issues through the summer give you a pack of seeds which is greatAvon Lady since 2009 - I help on the Avon hints & tips thread to help other reps/new sales leaders as I was helped so much by it when I first started out :A0

Have looked at the other thread too, but can any of you help me decide which magazine subscription to get for FIL?
He has mild dementia, and can't concentrate on reading books any more, so we wondered if he'd enjoy a magazine. His garden used to be fantastic, but now he often goes out and does the same thing over and over again but not the next thing, IYSWIM - so he'll prepare a seed bed and then not actually plant anything. Also he kept saying that he needed to cut the grass last summer, and then not remembering to do it, his son did it in the end! (No-one's ever been allowed to do anything in his garden before ...)
Anyway, not so fussed about getting free seeds (as he may not remember to plant them), but something he might enjoy reading and looking at the pictures, maybe 'prompts' of what to do this month and so on. He grew both flowers and edibles in the past.
Any bright ideas? TIASignature removed for peace of mind0 -
I am biased and would obviously recommend GYO but I love Grow It. It's a bit more focused on seasonal activities.
Why not buy a few and see which one he likes and get him that one?If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it. TIA.0 -
Amateur gardening mag does have 'what to do now' sections which as its a weekly mag might be useful as could be a reminder what to do for him. They also have a bit each mag with pictures of a different garden in along with other projects. After I've read mine I still enjoy flicking through and looking at the pics especially when it's horrible outside!Avon Lady since 2009 - I help on the Avon hints & tips thread to help other reps/new sales leaders as I was helped so much by it when I first started out :A0
