Hot water and heating on timer - shift work...

Options
Hi All,

This may sound like a really thick question but what is the best way to run the heating and hot water.

My husband does shift work so if I put the hot water on a timer how long does it stay hot for? ie. he has showers all different times of the day.

Also, I have the heating on all the time and just turn it up and down using the thermostat when needed... is this the best way to do it? We currently pay about £140 a month gas and electric which is leaving us about right (credit summer used in winter) but I would love to get this down if possible!

Thanks in advance! xx

I do shifts and I run the boiler for an hour in the morning (6-7am) which easily provides enough water for a shower during the day until 6pm when it comes on again for two hours during the evening bath / shower time.

Provided your hot water tank is well insulated you should have enough hot water all day.
