Yes but that number could belong to someone else. Would you like it if others gave your number instead of their own? There is something we can do as a group to stop their calls.
Usually they want you to call or visit a website. Visit the website and register false details, and in particular, a false phone number. The more people that do this the better, since their automatic dialers will phone the false numbers repeatedly, and while they are doing this, they will not be bothering our genuine numbers.keep taking the calls then -
Ignore them, get a phone that shows caller ID and refuse to answer callers who with held their number. Dont speak on phone until someone speaks on other end ie silent callers or get truecall and block all known cold callers0 -
I've found that some web sites, that insist on a phone number, will accept 11 zero's in the box!!0

01234567890 is accepted by web sites, and is not a legitimate number owned by anyone, so feel free to use that.
It may show up occasionally as the incoming number by someone using skype from foreign parts, but that's only them using a non-disclosed calling system. The bankers stole my pension (and everyone else's). It should have earned a lot of money, but they took their bonus pot first.0 -
Has anyone come across this site?

This looks like an American site.
The relevant UK organisation is TPS, but some companies ignore TPS registration and many calls come from abroad, which TPS can't do anything about.
The only effective way to stop nuisance calls is to buy a call screener.0 -
It's a funny thing, I register my landline fearlessly on every website where I register, but I receive very few nuisance calls. This is because when I do receive one, I joyfully refuse to confirm anything or engage the caller in the type of conversation they desire. Hanging up or being abusive will only make the problem worse. Telephone numbers are circulated by these unscrupulous types only if you appear to be a vulnerable target, if your number becomes known as a good target then they will continue to call. When I receive this type of call I am always up beat, I am so pleased to hear from them etc - discuss the football, the weather and the news, but when it comes to them asking you to confirm something, always advise that you never discuss personal details with an unsolicited caller. This strategy results in them directing their energies towards what they believe to be easier targets. If you become a target of petty thieves it is because you have been identified by criminals as an easy target, nuisance calls are the same, the number has been identified as an easy target for fraud, or as a target for commercial gain. It takes time and effort to ' clean up a number' after it has been soiled, but I have found it to be worth the effort.
I have had my phone number for 18 years, I have a relative who has used the same number ( except for mandatory changes ) for nearly 40 years ( she is 80 tomorrow )
Be robust, polite, and take the !!!! a little - but most of all , don't let them get you annoyed. Viewing it as a bit of entertainment takes the sting out of it a little, and these types of call can be fun if you switch on your speaker and let your mates have a laugh -If a man does not keep pace with his companions, then perhaps it is because he hears a different drummer. Let him step to the music he hears, however measured or far away. thoreau0 -
