Virgin Broadband Mega Slow

What's the best way to see what my broadband connection speed is as i have the 8mb Virgin and it's taking so long to load pages.

I've tried the usual virus checker, spyware, ccleaner etc - can it be my atual laptop or is this a problem with virgin??

It's probably the 5-11pm go-slow. If you have a router, try rebooting it.

Do you bittorrent or p2p?

i do use limewire sometimes, but this is closed down after use - would this make a difference

Welcome to Virgin! I have the same issue. I changed the MTU down and it made the line a little better. Try thinkbroadband for help or a shoulder to cry on!

just an update on this, the speed is still slow but now on my laptop i have a fan underneath and this now sounds like it's working overtime and as is like my laptop is preparing for take off!

Do you think it's my actul laptop or could a something be making it run as loud/fast as this

hi i have done this test i have 2mg broadband and my results were download 1952kpbs and 192 upload
is this any good and what do i have to do to make it faster i have a pc

11-02pm download 1866 and upload 186 kb/s

scooper, your results are nearly 2000 kbps, which is near as damn it, 2 meg, so it won't go any faster unless you upgrade to 8 meg.
