High meat cat food

Hi all,
I'm sure I saw a thread on this but cannot find it now
I was just wondering whether any of the supermarkets stock cat food with a high meat content? I used to buy my cat Bozita but it's a bit awkward having to collect the deliveries from the depot now.
I feed my cat wet food - he hardly has any teeth left as we got him as a rescue and most of them were rotten. The vetinary nurse said best to feed him wet as the dry we'd been feeding him had made his gums sore. I did try 'mushing up' his dry food by adding warm water but he turns his nose up at it
EDIT: Sorry, I should also add that he is about 8 years old. Should he be on 'senior' food or is that just a marketing gimmick?
Any suggestions welcome, thanks

Hi Life used to be a decent brand back when I worked in petshops and I think I've seen it in supermarkets before. Not sure if it will work out particularly economical to buy that way though0

I went through a stint of buying Hi Life actually, forgot about that...not seen it for a while so might be worth a look0

Hi,
Butcher's classic cat food has a high meat content and it's fairly cheap too at £2.75 for 6.

I buy from petsupermarket, who stock Applaws for 7.5kg for £33, free delivery. 60g a day per cat, at least 80% meat and no cereals or rice works out at a really, really good deal.
Good on you for not feeding Whiskas! '4% Meat and Animal Derivatives', yuck.
edit: Wet food is a bit more difficult - I feed Nature's Menu in the morning and Applaws at night. The NM is about 40p/sachet, ouch. It's worked out about even in her health and vet costs, though!
You could always make basic stock (just bones/leftover meat and water) from any meat you cook and soak the Applaws in that?0 -

As*da sell Top Life which is very similar to Boz*ita

Re deliveries - who are you ordering from?
I get my stuff from Zoo+ and the deliveries are left in a safe place - without me having to sign for them - if I'm not in. HTHGrocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)
2016 Sell: £125/£250
£1,000 Emergency Fund Challenge #78 £3.96 / £1,000Vet Fund: £410.93 / £1,000
Debt free & determined to stay that way!0 -
Yes I used to order from Zooplus. The deliveries used to go to work who were fine about signing for the delivery, but I'm not there anymore and don't want to push it in my new place!
I went and bought some Butchers from Asda and the old man wolfed it down so we'll see how he gets on
Thanks0 -
Asda Toplife is similar to Bozita, there is also Toplife and Feline Fayre (some variants are complimentary not complete). Butchers Classic is decent - no cereals or nasty additives - but it does not have a high meat content, it is based on animal derivatives like most commercial foods available in the supermarkets.Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0

Does he like fish - steamed fish is ever so soft (check it for bones before serving).A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.0

Applaws wet is a complementary food, not complete. So if Lilith1980's cat is only fed wet, they won't get all the required nutrients from Applaws.
I would recommend Bozita without hesitation if you can get over the delivery issues, mine get left in a safe place at home if I'm not in, like rising's, but in my case this is the doorstep as I live in a pretty safe area :rotfl:0
