Impact of internet monotoring software on Kids/Parents-Just want your thoughts please

Hi,
I apologise if this is the wrong board to put this in, I am just trying to do some research on Internet Monotoring software such as NetNanny/Cyberpatrol. I just wanted first hand information on the use of the software and what the advantages/disadvantages would be to parents and children.
For example one disadvantage to parents is the cost.....

Never used it and never known anyone to use it - I work in a computer shop - we repair lots of home user machines and i've never came across one yet using child filters - not so sure its that common a thing - I know AOL does have some protection - not much but some of the users may be able to give you some info on that - and theres is free for subscribers.0

I've set up the parental controls that are built into Vista, haven't really noticed any impact yet as the children tend to just go to their favourites. They don't really use things search engines. I've never used any other software though.It's my problem, it's my problem
If I feel the need to hide
And it's my problem if I have no friends
And feel I want to die0
