Tuesday 20th November - What small DFW things will you do today??!

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.
Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.
So be proud of those small steps, they really are important. :money:
Morning just a quickie from me:
* checked banking
* cancel lovefilm (will receive £20 amazon vouchers now)
* all meals from stores - grab something out of the freezer
* order and collect straightners for dd for xmas
* go and collect a couple of bits in town
* get oh to take the bags of plaster out of my car
* go and collect the wall paper stripper later
* check onepoll
* search for job vacancies
ok that's all I can think of! Have a great day x

Morning all, thanks DNMS for starting us off .... Jonno thanks for the reminder about Christmas tags from cards ... I put these all together ages ago to do this - now where did I put mine too:rotfl:
- Had bath
- Thermals on ..... heating off 2 more long sleeved thermal tops arrived today! Not quite as thick as the ones I've got (but they were 1/2 the price!) but I wanted something a bit thinner for when I'm at work (these ones are really thick & fine when the heating is off but I'd be roasting in the office!). Have another 2 sleeveless ones the same & another 2 to arrive - think that should do me for now!
- Don’t smoke
- B / L / D from stores Whoopsied roast chicken for dinner!
- Sort cats Done
- Tidy up Finally hoovered in lounge - both cats moulting!
- Sort inside freezer Have done outside one again instead! I've taken everything out of boxes - I bought a load of WW meals a while ago for if I was stuck at night when I was following it - but the boxes are HUGE and take up loads of room. I've repackaged in plastic bags (cut fronts & cooking instructions off boxes and put in as well!). Result & loads more room!!!
- Check online banking
- See if there are any offers on the cat food I've got listed Nope
- See if there are any offers on the e*bay items I've got listed Nope
- Hunt online for a cheap bookcase - will try Mr T / I*kea etc today thanks Ally
Had a look & all seem to be around the same price - may hang off until Jan as not desperate for it! - Knit DMs Christmas scarf .... running out of time!
- Finish letter to Water Supplier & send Arrrgggghh need to do this!
- Get to grips with S*buck
- Try to have a walk
- Need to pop to local shop as out of crumpets:eek: & very low on milk - LSD Done - managed to get a HUGE YS chicken for £2 - so that should last me the rest of the week!
- Double check measurements on storage unit / space under stairs Done & it'll fit!
- Buy storage unit for under stairs if measurements OK (as it's going to be a spend day anyway;)) - £14 to put towards it so only £11 and it will look so much better under there Have ordered! (Can't wait for it to come & for it to be tidy under there - I've hated it for over 6 years!)
- Make list of stuff to discuss with Dr Started
- Updated spending spreadsheet
- Did some work on 2013 budgets
Grocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)
2016 Sell: £125/£250
£1,000 Emergency Fund Challenge #78 £3.96 / £1,000Vet Fund: £410.93 / £1,000

Afternoon all,
DNMS - thanks for starting us off
lpp - comiserations on the tooth
ally - never got a chance to say thanks for the advice RE the contents insurance last night. I have re-read the tenancy agreement and it seems to say that I need to cover the LL's stuff for £2500 min. It also appears to say that on signing the tenancy agreement that I had to show a valid certificate of insurance or opt into the letting agent's own scheme at a cost.
Erm well I can def say that neither of those happenend and it was never mentioned
So I think the best thing to do is to find a policy that will cover both. Best for peace of mind methinks.
Also omniously the car refused to start this morinng. Eventually switched on after a few goes but I think there might be a loose wire, as putting in the key seemed to do nothing. Can't be battery because eventually started no problem.
On slightly better news, OH announced that he wishes to have a month of NSD's
I'll believe it when I see it :rotfl:
Today's mse stuff:
B/L/D from stores
Make jelly that didn't make last night
Start to list contents
Charge phone in work
Check online banking (make sure OH pays pocket money in)
Try to decide whether to put car into garage or go pot luck!
Think that's me. Bit panicked about the contents stuff. This type of thing always makes me feel a bit unwell. Very stupid thing to say I know
Have a good one all

When you turned the ignition on before starting the car, did the lights come on in the instrument panel?
If you turn the ignition on and no lights come on at the instrument panel means that there is no power coming from the battery. It could be a dead battery or often a bad ignition switch could cause this.
Turn the headlights on, if they work, means the battery has power, so the problem could be with the ignition switch or wiring between the ignition switch and battery.
If no lights coming on in the dash the battery could be completely dead or there is no connection between the battery and the vehicle electrical system. You can try to jump start your car; if it's a dead battery, jump starting can help.Debt-free day: 8th May 2015 "Remember that sometimes not getting what you want is a wonderful stroke of luck," Dalai Llama0 -
