Gumtree Add - Taken money no Item Help!!!

Replied to a Gumtree add selling a 3ds. I am completely new to Gumtree and stupidly trusted someone that I didn't know. I transferred £127 into his bank account and he was meant to post Ds. Nothing, he isn't even replying to my messages.

What do I do?

Is there any way that I will ever get my money back. Desperate as we don't have a lot and this was out of my Christmas savings for my sons Christmas present ;-(

Hi there,

I am really sorry but that scam is just about the most common one there is and it is extremely unlikely you will see your money again.

Gumtree warn about making unsafe payments for a very good reason- the scammers appear to be out in force at the moment as yours is one of many threads on MSE where people, perhaps new to online buying, have been caught out.

It won't help you but make sure you let Gumtree know as they need to be aware that buyers are still falling for this one and maybe they need to give an even stronger warning somewhere bedore allowing buyers access to their site.
