Try a local Insurance brokers or Towergate Brokers who should have access to Insurers who will quote. Home Protect also may be able to help. The comments I post are personal opinion. Always refer to official information sources before relying on internet forums. If you have a problem with any organisation, enter into their official complaints process at the earliest opportunity, as sometimes complaints have to be started within a certain time frame.0

If you are confidant it will never flood why do you need flood insurance? This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

I did an online quote a couple of weeks ago with Sainsburys Ins. (thro' quidco - £80 cashback
)
The question was something like:
Has the property ever been flooded or is it about to be flooded?
Don't remember any question regarding proximity to a water course (you'd have to check that out though)
£30 gift voucher for a combined policy as well :j0 -
These are the assumptions for Sainsburys Insurance offering.
- To your knowledge your home (including your land) has not been damaged by flood during the last 10 years.
- Your home (including your land) is not currently flooded or in danger of flooding.
Sainsburys use UKI, which is basically Direct Line. The comments I post are personal opinion. Always refer to official information sources before relying on internet forums. You need to be very careful when answering the assumption questions and also be aware of any cover questions of questions regarding "special terms imposed". If your current insurer has excluded flood damage you may need to declare this to future insurers.
Flooding is a peril that most insurers cover so unless yours is the exception and excludes this cover for everyone you would need to declare this.
There are companies that will cover flood risk areas - not sure how competive they are but it's worth getting a quote.

I'm sure there are others but these are 2 I could think of.0 -

Just been doing this very thing. Im 200 meters from a bloody River. The insurers with the looser "assumption" wording are:-
Aviva - "has never suffered from flooding"
Barclays "has never suffered from flooding"
Swinton "your home does not have history or any evidence of subsidence, heave, landslip, flooding, coastal or river erosion. "
More Than "The home you want to insure or the land belonging to it have not been flooded in the last 5 years "
Sainsburys/Direct Line is no good, because along with most other insurers, ask you if your property is in danger of flooding. Their wording is "Your home (including your land) is not currently flooded or in danger of flooding."
Being a few meters from a River, it is reasonable to think that there is a danger.;)0 -
We are in the flood risk area, but could and have never flooded. When I queried our high premiums I said take the flood off, I'll stand that risk, and was told it doesn't work like that, because we are so close to the river tough basically. We use swinton brokers, and its with walmsleys (think spelling right)Visit beautiful Mid Wales:j0

we are less than ten meters away from the river usk which is the tidal side of it as far as im aware its never flooded and we had a million pound flood defence recently put on te other side fo the road but never say never just want to get my home insurance down as in comparison to what other people pay we are getting done over im with nfu for it people just up the road are paying a fraction of what we are how can it differ i have stayed faithfull to them over the years and when i took the policy they told me because we are high risk they will insure us for everything apart from flood damage!0
