dla and some disabled elements of Tc are not included as far as I know

I believe that is incorrect. Households with anyone claiming DLA are completely exempt from the cap.

I know DLA exempted but wasn't sure if child or parent applied, is it both who are exempt for TC. That is why I said "some" as there are people on WTC who are not claiming DLA. but I suppose they work so again another exempt group.
  • So as I said a lot are exempt anyway and FSM and CTB is separate so they still get more than workers.

Political spin to show willing to reduce benefits whilst not really doing so.
  • The FSM thing confused me as some people dont think of them as benefits. Theoretically they are worth at least £12 a week. One girl i know will not have it that she claims benefits as its WTC and another forgets to factor in Hb/Ctb/Fsm when she talks of getting "paid". I don't judge, i try to help, but it is like banging my head against a wall! lol x Thanks again x
The feeling i got when i confirmed my place studying criminology at Exeter Uni was brilliant!!!!!

Free prescriptions, FSM etc are not included and yes people don't view (like TC) as benefits.

Given that working even part time, FSM, Disability, Free Prescriptions and Council Tax are not in the cap it still puts those families way over the average worker. Given the average worker has travel to work, limited opportunity to cook meals etc it's not really comparable.

    Vote spinner only IMO

FSM here are £3 pd - so £15 pw. 5 children that is £75pw an extra £400 pm tax free - but not counted as a benefit for the cap!

Sorry, but apart from those genuinley disabled etc who CANNOT work benefits should be set at NMW for a 40 hr week

Rents for housing have become so artificially inflated that limiting benefits to NMW would mean that a lot of families would become homeless. The majority of that £50,000 a year will go straight in to the pocket of a private landlord.
