  • An alternative solution...

    PC

This guide shows how to 'trick' your Xbox into using the existing wireless router of a PC/Mac. YMMV but this worked for me on OSX Leopard :)

I tried all of the free guides on the internet (those included) and the videos on Youtube, none of them worked. I ended up using a guide from here:- http://www.xboxlivetheguidestore.co.uk/ Worked perfectly first time, ok it cost me £2.50 but its cheaper than buying the adapter.

you must of been doing something really wrong, someone i know set it up using that method and they was only 12.

and i bet you can find whats in that 'so called' guide for free on the internet :)

edit - its exactly what i thought judging on what the requirements page says. just google internet connection sharing for xbox live and it will get you the same info saving you £2.50
  • I wasn't doing anything wrong as far as I know I followed all of the other guides to the letter. The guide I bought did show you how to do internet connection sharing yes but that didn't give the best Xbox Live experience, so I used a different method in that same guide called bridge and it works great.
  • Also consider if you can move your router to nearer the Xbox, I bought a wifi adapter and then realised I could have moved the router, so I did and returned the adapter :D
how did you manage to do this i have a belkin router and have tried to do this without success some info would be appreciated

Hi Merc you asked how to move your Belkin router.
I will say sorry at the start as I am going to pitch this as if you are a total novice.

How do you receive Internet? Cable or Telephone?

If its by telephone buy an extension cord that is long enough to reach from the telephone socket to your x-box 360. Connect the telephone cable to your Modem/Router then use the supplied Ethernet cable to the Router and the other end to the x-box 360 or buy a very long Ethernet cable to connect your x-box 360 without moving the Modem/Router.

If its a cable modem just buy a long Ethernet cable (if thats how you connect rather than USB) and connect from Modem /Router to X-box 360.

It really is as simple as that.

I have a long cable runs down the stairs but what i'm after is connecting wirelessly using my cable modem to a wireless router then connecting the 2nd router to my xbox using an ethernet cable to connect wirelessly to the 1st router if it is possible.

Homeplugs? Got meself the Comtrends of fleabay for £30 and works great. I've got a switch between the 360 and PS3, best of both worlds.
