Need some help please.
Son has asked for xbox live for his birthday...I don't know anything about it but he assures me it won't involve him hogging MY computer!!!
Got as far as he needs to by gold membership and a xbox wireless adapter, he has the premium xbox360. My computer is downstairs, and his room is on the 3rd floor(old victorian house), have been told we need a wireless router, will this work ina large house and which make model etc and is there anything else needed.
Thanks in advance

You can pick up the Gold memberships in game shops, or you can get them chaper on Ebay, they should retail for near £40 for a year, but I have seen them for nearer £20.
Any good router will do, though getting one with a firewall built in wil be a better buy, look to pay about £50-£70 pounds for a D-link or a Netgear.0 -
if you live in an old victorian house you may not get a strong enough wireless signal from the 2nd floor. You may need to look at something such as the home plug range - uses your existing mains power cable to transfer the data. Slightly more expensive but i've found it much more reliable over larger distances and through thick walls as usually found in these older houses0

Could you possibly post me to a link of what you have in mind because I'm really clueless about this...thanks0 -
Some information available here - basically you run the xbox via ethernet in to one homeplug adapter and either another adaptor at the other end running in to a router if you already have one or buy a homeplug router
