Well I got the job!
I'm really happy, the trainer was a lovely woman and so was the woman who will now be my line manager. It's only contracted to 20 hours but she said they expect you to do at least 50% more of that in over time, plus extra where available and the possibility of being kept on sounds good because apparently there will be quite a few vacancies opening up in the new year.
It's going to be completely different to what I've been doing, which was nothing short of soul destroying.
Well done, my partner works in M&S on a temp contract. Was due to end on 17th Nov but has been extended to 1st Jan. She has also gone from the cafe to work in the lingerie dept now as well, better hours, nicer conditions etc. She started on 20hrs 6 days out of 7 on a 2 week rolling rota. Has had extra work in Per Una and other depts as required up to another 10.5 hours a week.
She does enjoy it, good company and nice people, generally. They do like their pound of flesh though. Same as anywhere in this climate I guess.0 -

I must say the amount of people I've heard who say they enjoy it far outweigh those who say they didn't like it. And it seems genuine too, it's not as if they've just said it because they have to.
Hard work has never bothered me, tbh, I'd rather be in a job where I'm kept busy and there's always something to do. Hopefully I'll show them I'm worth keeping on beyond the end of December (contract ends on 29th).0
