I used to list empty boxes from our new contract phones each time we got an upgrade.
Listings always clearly stated in the title that it was an empty box they were buying and most went for at least £50-£100.
We had great feedback from most buyers and thought this was great until one day we were contacted by our network about our phone being damaged in the post. We told them that none of our mobiles had been posted anywhere and that we still had them on us. According to royal mail our phone had been damaged beyond recognition while being delivered and the only info they had to go by was the numbers on the side of the boxes but as it had been fully insured when posted it would be replaced  so somewhere out there someone was making a profit on insuring boxes with (I'm guessing) already faulty phones in them!
I'm not saying this is what's happening here but this is why I stopped selling them empty boxes on there. I suppose it was the naivety of youth that meant I never thought of what they were doing with my boxes but even now I don't send the boxes with stuff incase something like this happens again.
I guess over the years so much not just on ebay but elsewhere too, has changed so much. The society we live in seems to be driven by compensation and scams.
I can understand selling an empty box but when it is blatantly a scam I feel like shouting to the seller 'hoi, stop selling that buyer an empty box'. When you look and see some listings are worded so cleverly that it could be very easily missed if you read the listing quickly.
Mind you ebay just don't seem to give a jot :mad:There's no place like home

A late night catch up for me a I haven't been well today. Jamsponge, I've had a sickly bug too  I was violenty sick last night just before going to bed, had a rough night, especially with the wind howling outside during the night. When I did get up, I felt grotty but managed to haul myself out to Asda but still no triggers
, B&Q to get my 2 planters with 20% off :j and then to Morries next door. I was getting slower and slower as I was out and crashed out when I got home
After a nap, still been ill, so have had a bad evening too
I had to post though to say that I found the music last night fantastic

I agree some of the listings are very misleading and yes eBay don't seem to care as long as they get their fees they're ok.
I don't sell much on there now as I hate the way there is very little protection for genuine sellers against bogus buyers. I lost quite a bit of money on one buyer insisting that he/she didn't get something that had been signed for and I had the online proof from royal mail, the buyer just stated that the parcel hadn't arrived with them and that wasn't their signature  my money was automatically taken from my PayPal account with no comeback from me.
I buy on there only now and even then it's very rare.SPC #329 £471/£500 banked
