Ive tied looking but no luck

Is it possible to use a credit card to pay off a next directory account? if you canis it a cash purchase so would need a card with 0% on purchases

Any help much appreciated as i now have quite a large amount to pay which i didnt expect after our washing machine and tv breaking within just a few months of each other

Easiest way would probably be a super balance transfer, so the money is deposited in your current account and then you use that cash to pay off your other debts. Expect to pay anything upto about 4% for the transfer.
  • i have never heard of one of them!!! how does it work please
  • Only a couple of credit card providers off it, its just a card where you can balance transfer to a current account rather than only to another credit card and it counts as a balance transfer for the terms of interest free credit periods.

If none of those providers are for you then you can look at a purchase offer but you need to check both that Next has the ability to accept it and that your card issuer does count it as a Purchase and not as a Cash Advance
  • My wife pays her Next directory account every month by credit card, effectively doubling the interest free period. She does it online via Next's website and it is treated as a normal purchase (not a cash advance)

This is down to the card issuer to decide though not Next so it may vary (just like some count foreign currency purchase in the UK as cash advance and others a purchase)
  • ohh that sounds interesting and could be useful .what credit card is it if u dont mind asking and which ones do the bt thingy plz

I have just bought from Next and seem to have the options to have it on account which I intend to pay off in full using my Nationwide Credit Card...does anyone know if this will be treated as a normal purchase (not a cash advance) ?

I was going to pay it off when I bought it but you cant send to product back for free if there is a problem if I did that !

It'll be treated as a purchase and you'll even get cashback if you have that version of the NW card :)
