Hi All
Just had a quick thought that i hope someone can help with.
When the HIPs were abolished a few years ago. There were obviously allot of people that will have paid for these and lost out.
Is there a way to claim back the money you paid when you bout the HIP?

No. HIPs were a requirement and then not. Presumably you paid for the HIP when they were required.0

On what basis would you claim?
On what basis did someone who paid for a HIP, and got a HIP for their property, 'lose out'?0 -
The HIP provider accepted your money in return for providing a HIP. If he provided the HIP, he is due the money!
The government has no 'compensation' scheme, if that is what you are hoping.0 -
If this is first question, i hope it will be your last.0

Come on , the OP is a newbie poster - do you have to be so unpleasant?david29dpo wrote: »If this is first question, i hope it will be your last.
OP - welcome as a newbie.
Please don't be put off asking further questions about this topic or anything else. Should you need to, you can put other posters on ""ignore" - look on the narrow green bar above and hit "user CP"
It is as Danny Boy says. They were an ill conceived plan and unfortunately as G_M says if the provider did the work you get to pay for it.
Think of those poor folk who decided to give up their day job and "re-train" as HIP providers and DEAs.....0 -

OP - welcome as a newbie.
Newbie poster who has been a member since August 2011! Quite right though, no need for the sarcasm, it was a genuine question and the only way to get an answer is to ask.
Incidentally, I paid for a HIP 4 weeks before they were abolished, so I understand where OP is coming from, but sadly, no there is no refund - another government !!!!-up that Joe Public has to pay for!0 -
The fact that the OP has effectively been a "lurker" for over a year almost makes it worse that their first post should be responded to in that manner - they may well wish they'd remained a lurker.Newbie poster who has been a member since August 2011! Bit like your post here!david29dpo wrote: »If this is first question, i hope it will be your last.
I'll admit I too can sometimes be a bit abrupt, impatient with posters who consistantly ignore questions seeking clarification of their problem, and, yes, sarcasm is an occassional vice.
But this was uncalled for with a newbie on their first post (however naive you may have considered the question.)0
