Easiest and cheapest is to cover cardboard in tin foil and drop that behind the radiator. When refitting a couple of my own radiators that are mounted to external walls, I used this - can't say I've ever noticed any difference. I did spot Lidl recently ran some at £4.99 a roll, they might still have stock left.
  • Interesting that now. Never thought of that
  • I can't understand the thinking behind these reflectors - surely the heat is still in your home - even if it is warming an internal wall then your home is still getting the benefit and surely the warmth? Or is it just me?

I work for an energy company and we were told to bang on about these too customers. Got some free from work and they make no difference whatsoever in my opinion.
  • yes but its the wall which draws heat away from air affecting the air and overall air temperature

I think that at best these Reflectors make the appearance behind a radiador certainly look more tasteful, because trying to paint/decorate behind them can sometimes look rather messy.

Merely an appearance enhancer, but a pleasing result.

Wilkinsons sell it in rolls. I struggled to get it to stay put as the heat makes the sticky pads supplied less sticky after a while.

Surely a house with warm walls has warm air

If you install radiator reflectors, the heat will (in theory) be reflected from them into the air. The heated air will rise, above the reflectors and heat up the wall above them.

It make no difference. By fitting them, all you are doing is moving which part of the wall is heated - the walls will still get heated.

You simply cannot stop the walls and the air settling down at approximately the same temperature........unless you coat all the walls and ceiling in radiator reflectors, which isn't very practical.
