Cleaning Mould from Espresso Maker

Any ideas on how I could clean mould from inside an espresso maker? Its been sat in a cupboard for 8 months but now I've pulled it out in the hope of selling it (unwanted gift) I've noticed the cupboard is mouldy at the back and as the electric steamer is covered in mould I'm sure the espresso maker is affected too.

Someone mentioned using a descaler but surely a citric acid based product would actually kill off any mould spores in the machine.

Any thoughts?
