barclays fixed term deposit maturing

hi,
my parents have a barlcays term deposit that should have matured yesterday and they requested that this not be renewed.
they have been in the branch this morning but they have been told that the money would not be available for transfer today but to try tomorrow.
The maturity date on the contract is 18 November. My parents are elderly and I want to make sure they are not being ripped off.
Am I wrong in saying that the money should have been credited to the current account today, the maturity date?
thanks

Don't think anyone is being ripped off, It may just be down to the fact that the account matured over the weekend, wait until tomorrow to see if the money is ready to transfer out.
If your parents have given their instructions for it not to be renewed and also gone into the bank today to ask to transfer the matured funds and been told to try tomorrow, then I don't think there should be any chance of them reinvesting it against your parents wishes.Never let the perfume of the premium overpower the odour of the risk0 -
With a sensibly built IT system, yes, you're right.
But many banks get confused with weekends and working days and have told their computers to do strange things that defy logic but fit old fashioned bank opening hours.
Don't lose sleep over it.0
