I just bought an HP laptop - the one i have is an envy - and i haven't had any problems. In fact, I love it
I'm fairly new to HP computers, but so far I'd recommend it!

ok a few questions before we can help
how much do you want to spend?
who is going to use it?
what is it likely to be used for (office, internet, internet games, 'proper' games etc)?
overall the one you have posted is designed for longer battery life at the cost of raw power, so would be more suited to someone who travels, or who is likely to be away from sockets for lenghs of time, and not suitable for someone who uses advanced office (really large spreadsheets/formula) lots of large media manipulation or gamesDrop a brand challenge
on a £100 shop you might on average get 70 items save
10p per product = £7 a week ~ £28 a month
20p per product = £14 a week ~ £56 a month
30p per product = £21 a week ~ £84 a month (or in other words one weeks shoping at the new price)0 -
Ok ......it will be used at home. Want to spend no more than the price for that one!
Will be used for general browsing, some games, (internet ones) music, emails. facebook youtube.
Basically whatever a teenageer wants to use it for! Oh and homework.

Get an i3 cpu, they are much faster than the AMD and older intel processors.0

please don’t use sweeping generalisations like these on the forums when they are not necessarily true, for example the AMD A series of processers can be quicker in some tasks than the intel i3, usually the heavily multi threaded applications.
but it is not always about pure raw power either as the AMD A series can also be more suitable than even intel core i5 or i7 if you are looking at the integrated graphics for some gaming (say the sims 3, which is a common game that people don’t realise how much graphical power you require for it) as although the processor power of the core i5 and i7 cpu's is greater the integrated graphics chipset on the intel chips is just not as good as the ones on the AMD chips.
now to the OP, since this is for a teenager i would put some considerations into the possibility of games (it might be worth while talking to them if you can to ask about it) as i have said above things such as the sims 3 is surprisingly heavy on the graphics and the intel processors will really struggle to run it properly (unless you can get one with a dedicated graphics card which adds to the expense) without dropping all the graphics settings to their lowest which doesn’t make for the nicest playing experience.
and all the ones Cisco has posted about would cope with all the tasks you have posted about plus a bit of light gaming if it is desiredDrop a brand challenge

Sorry to piggy back on someone elses thread but I am looking to buy a laptop for my teenager and she would like to play Sims 3 - £300 is my maximum limit - does anyone know where I could get one in my price range that would play Sims 3? (if not, shes just going to have to do her homework on it!!!! lol)
Many thanksKondo'ed 76 items from wardrobe, 4 carrier bags of books0
